8 Tips to Make Your Dorm Party the Best on Campus
Dorm parties are a staple of campus life, and whether you’re hosting or going to one, it’s important to make sure that the event goes well. If you’re hosting, be sure to follow these 8 tips to throw the best dorm party on campus, while if you’re attending a party at someone else’s dorm room, try your best to follow these tips yourself so the party goes as smoothly as possible.
1) Invite only people you know
Dorm parties are some of the best days you’ll have at college, but they can also be some of the most dangerous. One simple way to ensure a safe and enjoyable time is to limit your invite list. Remember that every person invited will consume alcohol and drugs at your party, so it’s important that they are trustworthy people who are not likely to get drunk or high and cause harm or property damage.
2) The more planning, the better
Considerations for dorm life often make parties hard to plan. Be sure to consider noise complaints, proximity of other rooms, what time your guest can arrive, how many people are coming, and if you need any special accommodations (e.g., alcohol). Start planning at least a week ahead of time so you have time for shopping. Ask your guests if they have any specific dietary restrictions or allergies.
3) Get an okay from your RA

4) Set up quiet hours beforehand

6) Have food ready for guests
It’s important to have a fully stocked fridge with plenty of drinks and snacks on hand. That way, you won’t have any whining when they’re all hungry or thirsty because no one likes that! So make sure you always keep at least two beverages and three snacks per person. As for alcoholic drinks, you should also provide some lighter options and try to keep a variety in stock.
The best dorm parties don’t happen without friends so be sure to invite plenty of people!
7) Clean up before leaving
This is by far the most important rule. If you’ve invited people over, you should clean up after yourself and before they get there so that when they arrive all they have to do is enjoy themselves. The other person will be impressed with your professionalism and find it hard not to offer a favor in return. Ask for help if you need it!
All of these rules apply to both co-ed and all-girls dorm parties.
