Blackboard DCCCD: Registering and Logging In for the Fall Semester
You’ve been dreaming of the first day of the fall semester, and it’s finally here! At Blackboard DCCCD, we want to make sure that you get the most out of the experience by answering any questions you might have about registering and logging in. Read this blog post to find out everything you need to know to get ready for class!
What is Blackboard?
Getting acquainted with your online classroom is key to a successful semester. Blackboard is an online platform used in universities, colleges, K-12 schools, workforce training centers, libraries, museums, and more. The site can be accessed from any device, including smartphones and tablets. The user needs to create an account and choose a course before he or she can log in. Once logged in, students will see two different areas; My Courses where they can access course content from any computer with internet access, and Lectures where they can view course lectures when offline.

Getting ready for class
If you are starting a new semester this fall, or have yet to do so, we want to help get you registered and set up with Blackboard. Doing so will allow you to access your class materials, as well as register for other courses that interest you. If you don’t have an account already, please create one before registering. When registering for classes, be sure to select the correct campus (Campus Name) from the drop-down menu on the left side of the screen. Registration is open now through Friday, August 10th at 4:00 pm EDT.
Registering For Classes
To register for classes at Blackboard DCCCD, first, log in to your account by going to www.blackboard.dcccd.edu and selecting login. If you do not have an account, you will need to create one. Next, use the Class Search tab on the left-hand side of your screen to locate a course that interests you. Choose whether or not this course is right for you by reading through its details before proceeding any further into registration.

Logging in for class
The only way to access your course materials is through Blackboard. Once you log in, you will be asked to fill out a profile page. If you do not want anyone else to see any of your information or if there are personal details that should not be public, please make sure that you fill out this page as best as possible. Profiles are public by default but it can always be changed in the settings tab of your homepage.

What Can I Do After I’ve Registered and Logged in?
It’s time to put away your sunglasses, crack open a textbook, and register for classes. But before you head off to college this fall, there are some important steps you need to take. The first step is registering through Blackboard – do this at least four weeks before your course starts so that you can review the material and make any necessary adjustments. One of the most important things to remember when registering is whether or not your courses have textbooks available.
